Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Welcome to the Designer Jewelry US FAQ page. Whether you are a first-time visitor or a longtime collector of artisan jewelry, you likely have questions about our materials, shipping, and care instructions. Below we have answered the most common questions to help you shop with confidence.

1. What kind of jewelry do you sell?

At Designer Jewelry US, we specialize in handcrafted ceramic and polymer clay jewelry. Our collection includes earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and rings made by independent American artists. Many of our pieces are one-of-a-kind or produced in very small batches. You will find everything from minimalist geometric shapes to bold, sculptural statement pieces. We do not sell mass-produced or factory-made jewelry.

2. Is polymer clay jewelry durable?

Yes, absolutely. High-quality polymer clay, once properly baked and cured, is surprisingly strong and lightweight. It resists chipping and breaking under normal wear. However, like any handmade art piece, it should be treated with care. Avoid dropping it onto hard surfaces or bending thin parts with excessive force. With normal daily use, your polymer clay jewelry will last for many years.

3. Is the jewelry hypoallergenic?

Most of our jewelry is hypoallergenic. The clay bodies themselves contain no common allergens. For the metal components (earring posts, jump rings, clasps), we primarily use surgical stainless steel, sterling silver, or gold-plated brass that is nickel-free and lead-free. If you have known sensitivities to specific metals, please check the individual product description or contact us before purchasing.

4. How do I clean and care for ceramic or clay jewelry?

Caring for your handmade jewelry is simple:

  • For polymer clay: Wipe gently with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Do not soak in water or use harsh chemicals. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or extreme heat (above 120°F / 50°C), as this could soften the clay over time.
  • For ceramic jewelry: Wipe with a soft dry cloth. Ceramic is more resistant to water but can still be damaged by hard impacts. Do not use abrasive cleaners.

Store your pieces separately from metal jewelry to prevent scratching.

5. Do you offer custom or personalized pieces?

We do not currently offer full custom design services. However, because our artists work in small batches, many of our pieces are naturally limited in quantity. If you see a design you love but it is sold out, please sign up for our restock notification or follow us on social media for announcements about new collections.

6. What are your shipping policies?

We ship exclusively within the United States.

  • Processing time: Orders are typically processed within 1–3 business days.
  • Shipping methods: We use USPS First Class and Priority Mail. Tracking is provided for every order.
  • Shipping costs: Calculated at checkout based on weight and destination.
  • Delivery times: Usually 3–7 business days after processing, depending on your location.

At this time we do not offer international shipping or expedited overnight shipping.

7. What is your return and exchange policy?

We want you to love your handmade piece. If you are not completely satisfied, you may return most items within 14 days of delivery.

Conditions for return:

  • Item must be unused, unworn, and in its original packaging.
  • Earrings (for hygiene reasons) are final sale unless they arrive damaged or defective.
  • Custom or one-of-a-kind pieces marked “final sale” cannot be returned.

To start a return, please contact us with your order number and photos of the item. Refunds are issued to the original payment method after we receive and inspect the returned piece.

8. Are the pieces really handmade? How can I tell?

Yes, every piece we sell is genuinely handmade by an independent artist. You will often notice slight variations in size, color, and texture between pieces. These are not defects—they are the signature of human hands at work. Mass-produced jewelry is perfectly uniform; handmade jewelry has soul, warmth, and subtle individuality. We celebrate those differences.

9. Do you restock sold-out items?

Because our artists work in small batches, some designs may never be repeated. However, popular styles often return in new colorways or slightly updated forms. The best way to know when an item is back in stock is to click the “Notify Me When Available” button on the product page. You can also follow our newsletter for collection launch announcements.
